Acupuncture has become an accepted non-invasive treatment for sports medicine. Existing literature shows that acupuncture impacts both performance and recovery.
According to the National Institute of Health:
“Acupuncture improves peak oxygen levels, maximum heart rate, delayed-onset muscle soreness, pain, swelling, explosive force production, and joint mobility. Furthermore, the efficacy of acupuncture appears to be similar regardless of age and sex.”*
Treating sports medicine cases
Treating sports medicine patients is one of my greatest passions. In almost every case, there is a reason for the injury.
The key to healing the injury, and not having a re-occurrence in the future, is to figure out exactly why the injury happened. I find the root of many injuries to be the feet, an imbalance in muscles, or muscles not firing the way they should. Even when walking in an airport I cannot help but notice the number of people that could save a hip or a knee with a few corrections.
I use acupuncture for musculoskeletal injuries like muscle sprain/strains, joint injuries, inflammation and swelling, lymph problems, scar tissue impingement, herniated discs, and anything that impacts the circulation flow, and energy in the body; decreasing healing time and increasing the health of injured tissue.
Acupuncture is an incredible healing modality for sports performance and injury.
